Not only that, but your dentist has a multitude of additional options to use, including heat and/or light as part of the whitening process.
Having the dentist perform your teeth whitening will also avoid any complications from incorrect use of an over-the-counter kit. The solutions used on these kits contain peroxide-based bleaching agents. Each kit will have a different version of the solutions, which will also vary in strength. If you leave these solutions on your teeth too long, it will dehydrate your teeth and make them more sensitive. The result could be days of discomfort that could easily have been avoided.
How much brighter your teeth become will depend on how many treatments you have done. After a full set of treatments patients can see their teeth get up to eight shades brighter. Please keep in mind that teeth whitening will not whiten porcelain crowns or composite tooth-colored bondings.
